Camp Marcella is seeking qualified candidates to work in various positions in our residential camp setting for adults and children with special needs. Please view our website www.campmarcella.org for more details on our camping program. Camp Marcella is an equal opportunity employer.
Summer 2024 Employee Training begins June 23rd, 2024. Our camper sessions run from July 7th, 2024, to August 10th , 2024. We are looking for candidates who can work our full summer session. Room and Board is included. Most positions require you to live on campgrounds. There are limited day positions available. Competitive salary based on experience.
All candidates must:
- Fill out employment application,
- One reference letter from a professor, coach, advisor, etc.
- A minimum of two additional references
- Attend an in-person interview at your college with Camp Directors
AVAILABLE POSITIONS
Camp Counselors
Live with three co-counselors in a separate room within a camper cabin hosting eight campers. Counselors are responsible for caring for each camper’s individual needs, including but not limited to, helping with toiling, dressing, brushing teeth, showering, assisting in program areas such as swimming, crafts, and sports, and feeding. Counselors are assigned to campers with special needs to make sure all of their needs are met.
Program Directors for Art, Physical Education, Music, Nature, Life Skills
Program Directors develop activities to meet the needs of their campers. Each of our camp sessions are designed to engage either campers who are blind/visually impaired, adults, teen or children with developmental delays, or adults, teens, children with multiple disabilities. Program Directors will work collaboratively to design and implement camp wide activities each evening. Program Directors may be asked to assist other directors in their activities, or help counselors at bedtime.
Assistant Program Directors
Assistant Program Directors work to aide program directors in developing and implementing activities for adults, teens, or children who are blind, Visually impaired, developmental delayed, or multiply disabled. Assistant Directors will collaboratively work to engage campers in evening activities, assist counselors during break times, and help keep their program area tidy and stocked.
Waterfront Staff And Lifeguards
Lifeguards may live on camp and be hired as Program Directors or work our morning & afternoon shifts 9:30 a.m.to 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Lifeguards may remain on camp for an unpaid lunch and break. Lifeguards are responsible for maintaining the Lakefront boating area and Pool area according to the NJ Youth Camp License and NJ Bathing Codes. We do not swim in our lake thus no Lake certification is necessary. We encourage lifeguards to live on camp and work as Program Directors, helping with evening activities to gain a full camp experience. Camp Marcella will reimburse for lifeguard renewal certifications for employees who work as program directors at the completions of working the entire Camp Marcella summer session.
Kitchen Staff
Work with our professional chef to prep meals, set up and breakdown for meals, wash dishes, sweep and mop the kitchen, and take out garbage and recycling. Candidates with a food handlers license or serve safe certificate are preferred. We will reimburse kitchen staff who obtained their serve safe certificate as of January 1, 2024 at their completion of working the entire Camp Marcella summer session. Experience working in a commercial kitchen preferred.
Support Staff (Maintenance, Handy Man)
Seeking individuals to work day hours or to live on camp, to care for our buildings and grounds. Maintenance duties include janitorial tasks such as cleaning, buildings, bathrooms, and shower-house. Maintenance staff will also take out garbage and recycling from all buildings, power washing pool area, shower house, and camp paths. Other grounds maintenance will be assigned as needed.
Handy Man candidates should have experience with general plumbing, building and grounds repairs, and ability to work with professionals to oversee repairs as needed.
